IEEE Atlanta Section 2009 Banquet
We are living in an era of Global Competition. Rapid innovations are leading to "smart" product development. There are dramatic changes in the way goods and services are delivered to the end user. To stay ahead in this global competition in the years to come, significant elevation in the skill levels will be needed. However, such skills cannot be developed overnight. It needs structured planning and implementation. Improving mathematics and science education in our elementary and secondary schools will be a positive step in that direction. Success in this area will allow us to realize the potentials of technology and enhance our lives. Please join us in welcoming an esteemed educator and our past chair as she shares her assessment of the current state of math, science and engineering education. We are very excited to have Dr. Linda Martinson as our speaker. LINDA MARTINSON is currently an independent consultant. From 1995 to 2007, she was the head of the Galloway School in Atlanta, Georgia. From 1989 to 1995, she was at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she served as vice president of planning, budget, and finance and as chief business officer, and had direct line management authority for all financial and many administrative business areas. Martinson also has several presentations and publications to her credit in the areas of higher education planning and finance, electric power supply planning, and software engineering. She holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
