Atlanta Section Chapters & Current Officers
Most informational meetings in the Atlanta Section are hosted by its
chapters. Society chapters and special-interest chapters coordinate
activities focused on a particular technical specialty or career
interest.
The Atlanta Section has two special-interest (or affinity-group)
chapters. The GOLD Chapter focuses on the specialized professional and
personal development issues common among recent college graduates
(generally less than 10 years), regardless of technical specialty. The
Consultants Networking Chapter is a new addition to the Atlanta Section
that focuses on bringing together independent consultants, again
regardless of technical specialty.

IEEE maintains 39 technical societies, each of them focused on a
particular area of specialization in the electro-technology and
information-science profession. Many IEEE members choose to enhance
their IEEE membership through membership in one or more of these
societies.
Very often a local section, and a society will create a
technical-activity chapter to support the specialized interests of
members in that society's field of interest. The Atlanta Section has 13
such chapters, focused on various areas of expertise. Seven of these
chapters are wholly sponsored by just one IEEE society, and six of them
are co-sponsored by two different societies.
Unlike the affinity-group chapters listed above, the society chapters
are largely self-managed by volunteers focused on just that chapter.
If you would like to find out more about their activities, or explore
getting involved, we suggest you contact one of the chapter volunteers
listed below.
